Juneteenth Celebration

This FREE celebration and concert commemorates the day in 1865 that Union Army Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger issued General Order No. 3 in Galveston, which announced the freedom of more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state of Texas and honors the contributions of African Americans to American music, food, art, business, and culture.

Enjoy a market with local food and artisan vendors. In addition to a selection of food trucks, the restaurants at Redemption Square are open!

We will also have resources and networking for small business through East Harris County Empowerment Council as well as local art from artists presented by Harris County Cultural Arts Council.

Don’t forget the kids! The Kids Zone brought to us by H-E-B, will feature free face painters and balloon artists (3:30p-7:30p), as well as crafts, games, and more. We hope you’ll be part of this great community event that helps celebrate and educate on the importance of Juneteenth.
